Pescarolo Team leads the 8 Hours of Le Castellet

Pescarolo Team is leading the pack at le Castelet after the first two hours. The Le Mans made prototype is followed shortly by the Lola-Toyota. Way to go Pesca, nice yo see you guys back on the track and leading!

The Pescarolo-Judd started the race last on the grid despite the having scored the second best time during qualifying, as the car was disqualified for not complying with regulations.

The 8 Hours of Le Castelet is the opening race of the 2011 Le Mans Series season.

Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011

After including only three races in 2010, the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will more than double the number of events in 2011. There will be seven races in total: Spa, Le Mans, Imola and Silverstone in Europe, Sebring and the Petit Le Mans in America plus the 6 Hours China in Asia.

The ILMC is the A. C. O. attempt to create a world class endurance car racing series which many hope to become an alternative to Formula 1.

On the contender’s side, all the big ones are in: Audi and Peugeot will be fighting for LM P1 and overall title with Aston Martin standing by. Even if Pescarolo is not competing as a team this year, Oak Racing is throwing in a couple of Pescarolo Judd prototypes.

LM P2 only draws three entries, one of which is an Oak Pescarolo-Judd, a HPD powered Lola and a Nissan powered Oreca 03.

LM GTE Pro draws 7 entries: three Ferrari F458s, two factory sponsored BMW M3s and something new this year, a couple of Lotus Evora.

Spyker Squadron will spend 2011 to develop a new car

It seems that Spyker Squadron have decided to drop out of competition in 2011 and dedicate all their resources at developing a new GT racer based on the Spyker C8 Aileron. PlanetLeMans has all the details.

Looking forward to see these guys back in Le Mans in 2012.

Pescarolo secures funding for 24 Heures du Mans 2011

Team Pescarolo has partnered with Motul and so secured funding required to enter one car in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011, according to a news item posted on the team’s web site.

Henri Pescarolo and his team would need to close another partnership of the same magnitude in order to obtain funding for a second car and maybe race in some Le Mans Series events.

Pescarolo Sport is no more, long live Pescarolo Team

After Pescarolo Sport, the legendary endurance sports car racing team built by multiple Le Mans winner Henri Pescarolo went bankrupt and was ordered into liquidation by the Tribunal de Commerce of Le Mans, its entire property, was auctioned in Le Mans last week.

Jacques Nicolet owner of Oak Racing and Joël Rivière owner of Prestige Racing, two of Henri’s friends, jointly spent 400.000 Euro and acquired the whole lot of equipment and memorabilia. In an incredibly generous gesture, they’ve donated all back to Henri Pescarolo, to serve as a foundation for his new team, Pescarolo Team.

Peugeot wins the 1000Km of Silverstone

Team Peugeot Total have won the 1000 Km of Silverstone the last round of the 2010 Le Mans Series championship and also the first round of the 2010 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

With this last victory Peugeot are are not only winning the the 2010 Le Mans Series championship but are also taking a good start in the Intercontinental Le Mans cup.

Second car at Silverstone was Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with Audi coming in third.

1000 KM of Silverstone

Endurance racing teams are prepping up for the 1000 Km of Silverstone coming up this following weekend, the Le Mans Series season’s finale and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup opening race.

47 teams have registered, including Audi and Peugeot. Being part of the ILMC makes the 1000 KM of Silverstone a very interesting race. Some of the teams will fight to score the best possible score in the Le Mans Series while others will do their best get a good start in the ILMC.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid at Petit Le Mans

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid, star of this year’s 24 Hours of Nurburgring will race at this year’s Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. And hold on, it will be driven by Le Mans winners Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller. This year’s Petit Le Mans is scheduled for September 29th, in less than a month.
