Pescarolo Team leads the 8 Hours of Le Castellet

Pescarolo Team is leading the pack at le Castelet after the first two hours. The Le Mans made prototype is followed shortly by the Lola-Toyota. Way to go Pesca, nice yo see you guys back on the track and leading!

The Pescarolo-Judd started the race last on the grid despite the having scored the second best time during qualifying, as the car was disqualified for not complying with regulations.

The 8 Hours of Le Castelet is the opening race of the 2011 Le Mans Series season.

ALMS Issues 2010 Regulations

IMSA, the American Le Mans Series sanctioning body, has issued regulations for the upcoming 2010 season. The updates focus on safety, performance, the points attribution system and the display of the series logo and the leader lights system.

2010 A. C. O. Regulations

The A.C.O. have released their 2010 regulations, which can be downloaded here. All contenders to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2010 will naturally have to comply. Series such as Le Mans Series, American Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series are expected to update their own regulations to reflect A.C.O. changes.

Le Mans Series Confirms 2010 Schedule

Le Mans Series have confirmed the 2010 Le Mans Series Schedule and there are several important changes. First, there will be no Le Mans Series event at Catalunya or Nurburgring this year. Instead we have get new races: the 8 Hours of Castellet at HTTT Paul Ricard and a 1000 km night race at Hungaroring. Last year’s 1000 Km of Algarve is maintained as a night race.

It is interesting to note that the race at Le Castellet is not formatted as a 1000 Km race, but rather as a longer, 8 hours one. 1000 Km LMS races typically last about 6 hours.

Christian Klien Not Sure About the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2010, Favors F1

In an interview published on his web site, Christian Klien says he’s unable to commit to drive for Peugeot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2010. Christian explains he would like to concentrate on Formula 1 next year and cannot sign with Peugeot until his situation clarifies. If he manages to secure a seat on the 2010 F1 grid he will most probably drop out of Le Mans, mostly beacuse the 2010 Le Mans date clashes with the Canadian F1 Grand Prix.

Klien’s focus on Formula 1 is understandable, given the unique reshaping the series is going through these days. With all the big teams stepping out and a bunch new teams with great potential stepping, Klien has a fair chance to secure a comfortable contract if he plays his cards right.

24 Heures du Mans 2010 Dates Set

The A. C. O. has officially set the date of 78th 24 Heures du Mans endurance car tace on June 12th and 13th, 2010. So run get your tickets here!

Audi may not race at Petit Le Mans

If you check out the current Petit Le Mans entry list you’ll notice Audi‘s not on it, and we didn’t hear any announcement coming out from Germany after Peugeot confirmed their participation. Autobloggreen has contacted Audi to find out more and the answer was that a decision was not yet made about engaging in the two last races of the American Le Mans Season at Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca.

This might look surprising, but if Audi didn’t manage to address technical and organisational issues that made them loose this year’s 24 Heures du Mans to Peugeot, they might decide not to expose themselves to another public defeat. After all Audi has a winner image to defend and why would they expose the marque to another defeat when they can just invoke poor economic conditions to stay home and better prepare yourself to smash the adversary the next season? Of course it’s not very sport, but with major auto builders entering competition to drive sales, car racing stopped being about sport a long time ago.

So will Audi pick up the gauntlet and take on Peugeot at Petit Le Mans? Will see.
