The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2009 gave us the first 24 hours confrontation between the brand new Audi R15 TDi and the now impressive and impeccably tuned Peugeot 908HDi FAP. Audi lost to Peugeot for the first time, taking the toll for racing a brand new car as well as for a some important errors made by Audi’s drivers who gave Dr. Ulrich a serious headache.
One of the highlights of this year’s scrutineering session was the appearance of Patrick Dempsey from the Grace Anatomy TV series who managed to bring a massive crowd of screaming teenage girls at the Quinconces des Jacobins. That aside, Patrick used his first participation at the 24 Heures du Mans, to raise money for two Children’s hospitals as sponsors pledged to donate for each lap completed by Patrick’s team. Over one quarter million $US were raised for a hospital in Seattle and on in Paris, France.
