Pescarolo Team leads the 8 Hours of Le Castellet

Pescarolo Team is leading the pack at le Castelet after the first two hours. The Le Mans made prototype is followed shortly by the Lola-Toyota. Way to go Pesca, nice yo see you guys back on the track and leading!

The Pescarolo-Judd started the race last on the grid despite the having scored the second best time during qualifying, as the car was disqualified for not complying with regulations.

The 8 Hours of Le Castelet is the opening race of the 2011 Le Mans Series season.

Peugeot wins the 1000Km of Silverstone

Team Peugeot Total have won the 1000 Km of Silverstone the last round of the 2010 Le Mans Series championship and also the first round of the 2010 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

With this last victory Peugeot are are not only winning the the 2010 Le Mans Series championship but are also taking a good start in the Intercontinental Le Mans cup.

Second car at Silverstone was Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with Audi coming in third.

1000 KM of Silverstone

Endurance racing teams are prepping up for the 1000 Km of Silverstone coming up this following weekend, the Le Mans Series season’s finale and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup opening race.

47 teams have registered, including Audi and Peugeot. Being part of the ILMC makes the 1000 KM of Silverstone a very interesting race. Some of the teams will fight to score the best possible score in the Le Mans Series while others will do their best get a good start in the ILMC.

Oreca reveals LMP2 prototype

Oreca revealed their LMP2 racer this week code named Oreca 03. Oreca who is already building the Formula Le Mans prototypes is planing to sell the 03 to teams for 345000 Euro each, which apparently falls in the spending limits mandated by the ACO for LMP2 teams in 2011. Oreca claims to be able to adapt whatever engine the client desires.

With the incertitude around Pescarolo and its LMP2 prototype building business, Oreca is well placed to grab a nice piece of the LMP2 market pie.

LMP2 teams rule at Hungaroring

The Hungaroring is a twisted and narrow track and it certainly makes passing a difficult taks. For the first Le Mans Series race ever to held there, being fast was not main requirement to win. As a result the LMP2s, fast but also smaller and more agile have stolen the show and took the first six places overall. Beechdean Mansell, first team in LMP1 arived 7^th overall.

Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP ran into mechanical problems and barely managed to finish the race.

Oreca Aiming for Victory at Hungaroring

Confident after their victory at the 1000Km if Algarve in Portugal, Team Oreca Matmut are going to Hungaroring for the next Le Mans Series race next weekend and are aiming for victory. Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, driven by Olivier Panis, Nicolas Lapierre and Stephane Sarrazin will compete in its class against Signature‘s Lola Aston Martin, Beechdean Mansell‘s Ginetta-Zytek 09S and two of Rebellion Racing‘s Lola B10/60 Coupé Rebellion.

Oreca is currently in third place in the 2010 Le Mans Series championship, five points behind Audi Sport Team Joest and one point behind Rebellion Racing. In the drivers’ classification Stephane Sarrazin is first with 54 points, followed by Capello and McNish with 44 points. Lapierre and Panis are in forth place with 39 points.

Oreca Wins the 1000Km of Algarve

Team Oreca Matmut’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP driven by Nicolas Lapierre and Olivier Panis has won the 1000 Km of Algarve, in Portimao, Portugal. The Peugeot 908 was followed by Rebellion Racing’s Lola Rebellion and Signature’s Lola Aston Martin.

First in LMP2 was RML’s Lola HPD followed by Team Bruichladdich’s Ginetta-Zytek 09S and Dams’ Oreca 09, a Formula Le Mans contender.

Interestingly, the GT2s did very well. AF Corse’s Ferrari F430 GT and Team Felbermayr Proton’s Porsche 997 GT3 RSR outpaced many LMP2s as well as the GT1s.

Stephane Sarrazin to join Oreca in LMS

Oreca announced today that Stephane Sarrazin will be joining the team for the remainder of the Le Mans Series season. Sarrazin will share the seat of Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre.

Sarrazin is currently second in the Le Mans Series drivers classification, following McNish and Capello who share the first place. The teams classification is currently lead by Audi Sport Team Joest followed by Rebellion and Aston Martin Racing.

Nigel Mansell Recovering Well After Le Mans Accident

Nigel Mansell of Beechdean Mansell Motorsport is recovering well after his severe crash at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The team’s Ginetta Zytek prototype was badly damaged and requires extensive repairs which will cause the team to miss the next Le Mans Series race in Portugal, mid July.

Beechdean Mansell Motorsport will be back on track at Hungaroring with Nigel’s sons in the driving seat. Nigel will drive again at Silverstone in front of his fans.
