Team Oreca Matmut’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP driven by Nicolas Lapierre and Olivier Panis has won the 1000 Km of Algarve, in Portimao, Portugal. The Peugeot 908 was followed by Rebellion Racing’s Lola Rebellion and Signature’s Lola Aston Martin. First in LMP2 was RML’s Lola HPD followed by Team Bruichladdich’s Ginetta-Zytek 09S and Dams’ Oreca 09, [...] Oreca announced today that Stephane Sarrazin will be joining the team for the remainder of the Le Mans Series season. Sarrazin will share the seat of Oreca’s Peugeot 908 HDi FAP with Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre. Sarrazin is currently second in the Le Mans Series drivers classification, following McNish and Capello who share [...] Nigel Mansell of Beechdean Mansell Motorsport is recovering well after his severe crash at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The team’s Ginetta Zytek prototype was badly damaged and requires extensive repairs which will cause the team to miss the next Le Mans Series race in Portugal, mid July. Audi makes a successful return to Le Mans Series by winning the 8 Hours of Le Castellet. The Audi R15 Plus, driven by McNish and Capello finished first in 8 hours and 36 seconds after having completed 266 laps at an average speed of 192.3 km/h.
